Ánnámáret, or Anna Näkkäläjärvi-Länsman, is an artist native to the Arctic Circle, an ambassador of the Sámi community and their culture. Her work derives from research into the family tradition of the joik, an indigenous vocal form passed down from generation to generation. Drawing on archival recordings, the sounds of the tundra, and the pulsating life of the modern world, the artist creates deeply moving, multi-layered soundscapes.
During her concert at the Castle, Ánnámáret is going to invite listeners into the world of BÁLVVOSBÁIKI, her latest musical vision, in which early instruments, electronics, and video art coexist in complete harmony. Her music asks about the sacred, trying to answer where the hallowed places are today. In the tundra, in sound, in memory, or perhaps in the voice that carries the joik?Ánnámáret is the voice of the North—delicate yet assertive, rooted in the harsh nature and the culture of reindeer herders. Her concert is a mystical journey across the realms of dreams, memory, and the present.
