Banda Comunale (Germany) | Ethno Port 2025

Banda Comunale is a musical collective from Dresden who, for the past two decades, have proved that trumpets and saxophones can be more powerful than hatred. Their sound draws unabashedly on the music of the world’s crisis regions—from North Africa and the Middle East to the Balkans, Colombia, and Eastern Europe—creating an exuberant mix of sounds with a global heart and local commitment.

During the concert at the Castle, we are going to experience the powerful verve of Banda Comunale, a project conceived in response to the wave of xenophobia and PEGIDA marches in Saxony. The band has grown to almost 20 artists, coming from Germany, Syria, Palestine, Iraq, Brazil, Italy, Poland, and other countries. They play together to break down walls. Their concerts are a celebration of integration, solidarity, and the courage to be together, regardless of language, origin, or history.

The group believe that making music together is a tool of resistance, education, and social change. Awards, festivals, and collaborations with stars such as Sting and Yo-Yo Ma are important, but performing in places affected by exclusion and intolerance counts even more. Banda Comunale is not just a band—it is a manifesto that music can change the world.
