HrayBery/ГрайБери (Poland/Ukraine)

HrayBery is a band that brings forgotten music back to life: sounds people would hear at the turn of the 20th century in the inns, markets, and towns of the erstwhile Galicia.

Their repertoire includes lively dances such as kozaki, kolomyjki, mazurkas, polkas, and ciuryły. The band plays on traditional instruments that had been common in that region since the end of the 16th century. HrayBery’s music takes you to a place where Polish, Ukrainian, Jewish, and Romani cultures intermingled for centuries.

Formed in 2023, the band has already gained recognition at festivals in Poland and abroad, including Rudolstadt and Donaufest in Deggendorf, Germany, while their debut album received an award from the Polish Radio.

During the Ethno Port Festival, HrayBera’s concert promises to be an encounter with raw, authentic music that recalls the multicultural heritage of historical Galicia and draws you into a whirlwind of forgotten melodies.

Line-up:

Maksym Nakoneczny – violin

Serhii Postolnikov – cymbals

Martia Bodnar – violin

Agata Weber – frame drum

Na zdjęciu cztery osoby siedzą na drewnianej ławce na tle szarej kamienicy z dużym, drewnianym oknem. Ubrane są w stylizowane, retro stroje. Kobieta po lewej trzyma bęben obręczowy, mężczyźni w środku wiolonczelę i skrzypce. Mają kapelusze i wąsy.
